Rules of Young Married Poor Students

I can't wait until Phil and I have a career and for us to put the Young Married Poor Students behind us. I realize that there are certain rules to being Young Married Poor Students:


Rule #1- You can never have too much ramen, and cup o noodles
Rule #2- "Which bill is top priority and which bill is not and won't hurt us if we are behind"
Rule #3- Vehicle gas tanks must ALWAYS be on half tank when you gas up. None of this full tank business.
Rule #4- Date night = Netflix and ice cream (ice cream if only affordable)
Rule #5- Even though cat food costs $7 a bag, you must still feed the cat.
Rule #6- Husband can get haircut for cheap for $6 every 2 or 3 weeks, Wife must wait 2 or 3 years to get a decent haircut that makes her try to look fetchin good.
Rule #7- Clipping coupons for groceries is the highlight of a wife's week...but never used.
Rule #8- Umm yeah I'm still wearing clothes I wore my senior year in high school.
Rule #9- You can look but you can't touch
Rule #10- Use a fleece blanket and push pins to put up as a curtain in your bedroom. No matter if that blanket has basketballs on them, you will be grateful when morning comes around.
Rule #11- Must sell either car or truck to get rid of payments
Rule #12- Remember that looking for a job IS a full time job
Rule #13- An hour trip to donate plasma for $30 is only paying for gas for that trip and it isn't worth it.
Rule #14- Love your husband even if he eats 2 bowls of cereal a day, 2 ramen noodles for dinner, and you have to cook 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese for you to have 1 helping and for him to have 3. You STILL love him like crazy. ( even if he begs for 3 boxes of mac and cheese.)
Rule #15- Student loans are not just for school. If there is leftovers, MUST PAY BILLS AND FOR FOOD.
Rule #16- Last but not least...write down all experiences in this stage of life. These are huge memories in the making and will be of some reassurance down the road that things will get hard, but things will get better. The present is hard but the future will get better.

I don't mean to portray that we have a terrible life and that we live in an old shoe. We love our life and our adventure that we're going through! It's great and I wouldn't trade these for anything. I think it has also brought Phil and I closer together while trying to support each other help each other. It kinda makes me laugh at these rules and gives me something to look very forward to in the future. Plus I am glad that we weren't the only ones.

Give me the simple life

Finally! We have been able to get into the groove of things and getting everything started:

My job with Convergys starts Monday (been bored out of my mind and can't wait)

Phil is just finishing his first week of school and he loves it (relief)

met the ward and we really love it (relief)

This isn't our church building that we go to, but it's an LDS church building that is around main

Then I have been working on my New Years Resolution which has been going really well since I'm not one to make goals and keep them.

We are loving it down here in Cedar. It's a sliver bit warmer than up North, the people here are great, and it's just a small town with 5 grocery stores and tons of eating places. The nearest shopping that is probably worth going to (mall) is in St. George. Which is a nice excuse to get out and go somewhere PLUS it won't tempt me as much to shop and spend money even though my wardrobe needs an upgrade. Ah well, what do you do.
