Dirty Dash

After months AND MONTHS of training for a 5k, I finally accomplished my goal last Saturday!

Woke up at 7 am, drove to Heber, and waited for my race to start up at 10:40. I didn't know what to expect so my tummy was all over the place: nervous, excited...etc. Then I lost track of time...guess you can see where that will lead... While I was stretching and looking for my family, Phil told me that my race started in 3 minutes!! Yikes! Luckily my family showed up, gave em hugs and kisses and booked it to the starting line and they already started! So I jumped in being a little behind everyone and I all ready was huffin and puffin since I practically sprinted to the start line and the very beginning just so happened to be a pretty big hill covered in mud. HAHA I can imagine what other people were thinking. My family said that they saw everyone start, then saw me in my bright pink shirt carry up the rear. hahaha I laughed all the way up the hill. Ya gotta love the funnies!

The first obstacle, I waited forEVER so there wasn't really a need for me to sprint up the hill at the beginning cuz I waited forever. Especially with a group of drill teamers that did NOT want to get muddy... ummm then you're in the wrong race girls!! After what felt like 10 mins or so finally got through and ran my little heart out, rolling over bails of hay, crawling through tunnels, trudging through a resevoir, dodging through tires, climbing walls, gulping down jello shots, climbing rope ladders, somesaulting down bouncy slide, penguin sliding down the hill, cannon balling into the mud pits, then the finish!! I decided to do the 10k instead of the 5k at the last minute. The 10k looked much more muddier and funner! I am so grateful for the support I received from my husband and my family. I probably wouldn't have gone this far without them!!

IT. WAS. A. BLAST!! I can't wait til next year!

"I Love to See the Temple"

My sister/future missionary to Tokyo, Japan (squeal with excitement inserted here), went through the Timpanogos Temple on Saturday! Words can't express how excited I was for her! When we went through and were standing in the Celestial Room, I told her how weird it was seeing her in there! And also told her that it was a good weird! There was such a special spirit there in the temple watching one of my siblings get their endowments out! She is going to be an amazing missionary! I'm so proud of her!!

Tribute

Mother's Day! I have been blessed by 2 amazing mothers in my life. My own mother and my mother-in-law. I love them dearly and I'm so grateful that there is a day just to celebrate mothers. Although I think that mothers need to be celebrated EVERY DAY. These women are both great strengths to me and am honored that they're my mother and mother in law

Isn't she just beautiful!!!

Words just can't describe how I am so grateful that my mom never gave up on me and just how wonderful she is! Being the oldest offspring, I would have to say that I have put my mom through a lot. From choosing some crazy friends, breaking the rules, thinking that I knew everything and that she had no idea how it was to be my age and that she doesn't understand. As I got older, I realized just how much my mom knew and how much I needed her! Now that I've moved out and starting a family of my own, I miss her so much and so thankful for the memories I have and the lessons that she taught me. She's always there when I need her and does everything she can to help Phil and me out.

My mom is the most unselfish person I know. She is always putting the rest of the family, or someone else before herself. She works so hard at work, home, and in her calling that she hardly has enough time for herself. She has worked so hard at making memories for us growing up that made them so special and so much fun that it made it so enjoyable being at home. She is so fun! She is like a 20 year old around us and messes around with us that it has made our relationship grow. I hope I become at least half of the wonderful woman and mother that she is! I love you mom!

I'm so grateful that I have such a wonderful mother in law that is a part of our lives. She is just wonderful! She also does everything she can to help Phil and me. I'm grateful to her for raising such a wonderful young man, now my hubby. I'm grateful for her example to me and for the things that she has taught me! I love you Marnie!

Yogie

So, I kinda was sucked into the world of yoga. I never thought I'd be the one to say that! But it's wonderful! I did something to my wrist and my back a while ago and yoga is definitely working my wrist and my back. My back is so much better and I feel so much better! I mean yoga isn't going to stop me from weightlifting and running, but when I need some DEEP relaxation and a nice good stretch, it's nice to just relax, focus on my breathing (which I'm still certain I'm not doing it right) and let go of the hustle and bustle of a busy life! I am not at the point of standing on one leg, on my tippy toes, bent in half, backwards with my arms tangled around my feet...but I am loving the challenge!

And someday, this will be me! That would be awesome
